When is multitouch coming to the pc?

Ever since the early days of the computer mouse (that was seen initially as only a kids toy, not to do actual serious business with), we've been interacting with our computer in the exact same way. Sure, we have a webcam, a microphone, but nothing really changed the way we tell our computers what we want to do.

That is, until the iPhone changed all that and gave us the touch screen, and of course: the Pinch. (I like the shake/shuffle of the iPod too) This is becoming the standard of our smaller devices now. But the computer we use every day still has a keyboard, a screen (well, two actually ;-)) and a mouse. Take a look at this nice demo video of some new multi-touch mice from Microsofts hardware research lab:

It will be great when we can rethink our ways of interacting with computers. I would like 3D holographic displays, bendable iPaper projections, gestures in the air, and more...
